Wednesday June 6, 2012

Today, I sat on the couch listening to Avery scream after a great day of smiles, efforts to talk and giggles.  As she screamed Leila licked her forehead as if to say "It's OK Avery." (If you know Leila, she isn't a licker.) I had to break the news to Leila that her attempts were not welcomed by Aves.  I gave her a treat to lessen the blow.

Today, I sat on the couch and fed Avery from a bottle for the first time.  It took ME a little bit to figure out how to do it.  I received dirty looks from her as if to say, "figure it out dad." and "Wait! Where's mom?!" Katie gently took my hand and adjusted it and silence filled the room as she pounded down two ounces of milk.

The tide was out today, way out.  I managed to find ten golf balls we had hit in previous weeks.  With every ball that I picked up I wondered who hit it and how fun it was to hit them in the water at sunset with good friends and family.

I learned how to change a cloth diaper today.  Leila ate an oyster she dug up today.  I mailed my appication to become licensed in Idaho today.  I attempted to hit a crow with a rock today but i'm glad I missed.

Today was great.  It was cold but sunny.  I spent time with my daughter and wife.  Leila was to exhausted to move because of her time on the beach.  This is good.

Today I found out that our computer's hard drive crashed.  It was a Mac for all you PC haters.  I kicked myself for not taking the time to back up my photos.  I personally find it harder on a Mac than a PC.  Thank goodness for our blog as I attempt to put the best of the best on here.  So that made it less of a blow.

People told me school would go fast.  It really didn't.  People say life goes fast.  I really don't feel like the last 29 years have flown by.  People say Avery will grow up before you know it and that is true.  Maybe it's because I didn't value school or my life as much as I value Avery. Maybe it's cause of that.

I love the details of the day to day and want to be sensitive and embrace them.  I think that's why I write and take so many pictures.

Great update, and as always we are loving the pictures. Praying for safe travels and trust as you make your transition to Spokane...
